Doug Kraft, vice chairman and awards chairman of the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame Night threw a first pitch during Hall of Fame Night at the Lancaster Barnstormers.

The organization also used the night to recognize this year's award winners as the Barnstormers posted photos of the honorees on the giant video board before the game. 

The Hall of Fame will formally recognize its 2023 inductees and other award winners at its banquet Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Eden Resort. Ticket information and more at lancastersportshalloffame.com/banquet.

J. Freeland Chryst Award winners are former McCaskey basketball coach Steve Powell, former NFL player Dan Kreider (Manheim Central), former Manheim Township baseball coach Bill Sassaman and former Hempfield football and baseball coach Tom Getz.

Ed Flick, a former basketball, baseball and softball official, chairman of the Hospice Sports Memorabilia Labor Day Auction for 16 years and chairman of the Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame for seven, will be honored as the 2023 George W. Kirchner Award recipient.

Other honorees are Columbia's Barry Ford, volunteer of the year; Karin Hostetter, of Lampeter-Strasburg, LNP | LancasterOnline inspirational athlete of the year, and LNP | LancasterOnline Athletes of the Year Aidan Hodge of Hempfield and Maddie Knier of Manheim Central.

The Barnstormers won the game over the Long Island Ducks 9-6 as they aim to win the second half and a playoff spot.
