The Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame will recognize annual winners of the following awards at its annual banquet:
The George W. Kirchner Award – This is the highest honor/award presented at the annual banquet. This award started in 1952, this award is presented to “a local sportsperson for outstanding lifetime contribution to sports.” The award is named after the 37-year sports editor of the Lancaster New Era.
The J. Freeland Chryst Award – This award grants Lancaster County Sports Hall of Fame status to its award winner for achievement in athletics.
- The committee will award three Chryst Awards annually, while reserving the right to award more or less than three.
- Awards winners can be living or deceased.
Volunteer Award – Recognizes an individual for outstanding volunteer service to the Lancaster sports community.
Inspirational Athlete Award – Nominations come from the Lancaster County Hall of Fame Board of Directors, but currently the winner is selected by John Walk of Lancaster Newspapers
