Tell me about your origin story with basketball and the journey since then?

Masters: “I started playing basketball in second or third grade. I started playing Upward — little kid stuff. … I have two older brothers and I have a twin. My older brothers played basketball. And both my parents played basketball. It was one of those things I tried, and I loved it. … Then middle school basketball my mom was my coach. I played a lot of minutes as a freshman and sophomore.”

What player do you look up to?

Masters: “My older brother Aidan. I grew up watching him. When in middle school I was watching him. So I was excited to get to high school. We played PIG a lot.”

What excites you about this year’s team?

Masters: “We’re good at bringing the younger kids. We have three seniors. I’m one of them. We’re really close with the younger players coming up. We’re good at helping each other out and working well as a team. We’ll definitely get better doing that. I’m excited for our first game and getting through our first weeks of practices.”

Do you play other sports?

Masters: “I play volleyball.”

Time for some fun questions. Do you have any hobbies outside of sports?

Masters: “I like to read. I like romance novels.”

What’s your favorite class or subject?

Masters: “History or the Bible.”

What’s your favorite verse, section or person in the Bible that motivates you?

Masters: “My life verse is Phillipians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. I struggle with anxiety. So I’m trying to lean on that verse.”

What song do you know every word to?

Masters: “Breaking Dishes by Rihanna.”

You’re a senior now. What advice would you give to yourself as a freshman?

Masters: “Even if I’m playing bad just try your best. Enjoy it more. And try to score.”
