For a certain length of time, McCaskey girls’ basketball team was well known throughout Pennsylvania for its continued success. Lee Bossert and Dave Myers co-coached McCaskey girls’ basketball team for 13 years, during which the Red Tornado won eight consecutive Lancaster-Lebanon Section One titles. Additionally, in post season play-offs McCaskey won five District III A titles and represented eastern PA in three 3A state championship games, taking home the 1982 PA State Title with a 65-39 win over Villa Maria.
During the Bossert and Myers era, McCaskey girls continually had winning seasons and won 20 or more games ten times with a cumulative record of 265 – 74.
Myers retired as coach in 1986 and Bossert went on to coach the Tornado to another state final, finishing his coaching career record at 374-160 in 20 seasons.
Both Bossert and Myers are members of the McCaskey Athletic Hall of Fame.
