Elmer Dixon
J. Freeland Chryst Award

Elmer Dixon spent nearly 50 years as an official for track and field, swimming and baseball. He passed his PIAA officiating test in 1939.

As for officiating, Dixon was a stickler for the rules. He knew the rule book from front to back. Always the first official to a game or meet and always the last to leave. He was a mentor to many younger officials.

Although the rules were important, so, too, and maybe more so, were the athletes. He was dedicated to officiating with them in mind.

Dixon also worked the clock at Lancaster Catholic football games and rarely missed a game. He performed the same for McCaskey’s home games for 23 seasons.
