Earl Stoudt is a graduate of Lancaster Catholic HS where he excelled in football and basketball. Stoudt was a member of the first undefeated, untied Crusader football team (’56) and selected to the 1st team Central Penn Catholic League All-Star Football Team (’57). In basketball he set a school record for points per game (17.8) and was selected as 2nd team Central Penn Catholic League All-Star (’56, ’57).

Stoudt attended Fork Union Military Prep School (’57-’58) and was selected 1st team All-Virginia Military Prep as a running back.

In 1958 Stoudt received a full football scholarship to the University of Richmond. During his senior year as Co-Captain, he set single game records for points (26), TDs (4), PATs (5), longest KO return (tied - 94 yds.), rushing attempts (32), rushing yards (194) and total yards (226). His season records included: points (67), field goals (tied for 1st), net rushing yardage (704) and TDs (9). He was the 10th leading rusher among the nation’s RBs in 1961.

For his accomplishments at Richmond, Stoudt’s honors included: Southern Conference Assoc. Football Player of the Year; Bedford Chamber of Commerce “Big 5” Sportsman Award; Outstanding Back in Virginia by the Roanoke TD Club; Outstanding Football Player in the State of VA by Norfolk Sports Club; the Virginia Sportswriters and Sportscasters Outstanding Football Player (’60, ’61); All Southern Conference 1st Team (’60, ’61); the WRVA Outstanding Back of the Year (’60, ’61); and All-American Honorable Mention (’60, ’61). Following his senior season, Stoudt played in the NORTH-SOUTH College All-Star Game in Miami, FL. The Canadian League Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Stoudt after his senior season, however military obligations prevented him from playing.

Stoudt has been inducted into the University of Richmond’s Athletic HoF, Richmond’s All-Time 100 Years Football Team, the LCHS Athletic HoF (’56 Team and individually) and the Susquehanna Valley PA Sports HoF.
