We don't know what size Tyler Miller is at the clothing store, but on the bowling lanes he's a 12X.
Miller, a Warwick High School senior, rolled a perfect game of 12 strikes during qualifying before claiming the 2021 Lancaster-Lebanon League individual bowling championship. He also had a 289 game during qualifying.
"When I got to the second round, I really was confident," Miller told Philip Glatfelter of LNP | LancasterOnline. "I switched balls ... and I ended up bowling really insane."
His coach, Neal Vital, saw that something special was happening. "He's very emotional," he told Glatfelter. "I said to my assistant about halfway through the third game (of the second round of qualifying) ... 'It's kind of eerie; Tyler is relaxing.' It just seemed like something turned on or turned off."
Miller's performance during the early rounds gave him a bye into the modified stepladder final. After limiting his practice while the others battled to reach the championship, Miller rolled a 269 to defeat Elizabethtown's Daniel Eberle for the gold medal.
